Welcome to the homepage of Finnish RR-rider Ville Valtonen. Through these pages, one can follow the life, riding and races of Ville.

For the season 2012 Ville is again riding with Yamaha`s proven YZF-R6 bike in “cup” specification. For the year 2012 Yamaha kept the R6 model as it was in 2011 so effectively the race bike will be very much the same as 2011. Also the cup rules will stay the same more or less, so everybody will be using bikes that are very close to road bikes.

This year marks the second year in running for Ville in the IDM/Yamaha cup series. Yamaha cup series, runs as a part of very successful and highly competitive IDM series in Germany. This Yamaha cup, which has been running for 34 years has developed 4. world champions and several national level champions. As a package, we as a team view it as the best way to “move up the ladder”, if you will. Since doing well in this series is usually noticed by bigger class people as well.

Rules are simple and plain. Every rider is riding with exact same bike, tires, suspension, brakes etc. So with these given rules there definitely will not be any technical advantage to any team/rider. It will be just about the rider and his skill to adjust the bike to his needs.

The class will be very competitive and challenges will be big for small team from Finland, but we will give it everything we got, that is certain. Halfway through February, riders from 12 different country`s have been accepted and number of riders will be eventually limited to around 45. So do expect 2012 to be just as tough as before!
